DietOrganizer for Palm User Comments

User comment from PalmGear site: I tried the others but ruled each out because
they were too cumbersome to use. The program is also very flexible. For example the aforementioned calorie progress bar can be changed to display progress of any type of intake (Fat, Carbs, etc). Very cool. Very intuitive. For the first time I find myself making healthier choices and watching portion sizes all so my stats dont go out of bounds. I initially didnt want to pay $25, but after using the trial I could see it was worth it. It has completely changed the way I eat, and to some extent the amount of exercise I do. |

User comment from PalmGear site: Although this looked like a very nice piece of software, the lack of reviews made me put it last on my list of programs to try when I was trying to choose a diet/exercise tracking program. Perversely, then, I feel uber-qualified to rave like a maniac about DietOrganizer Mobile, seeing as I've tried out & eliminated just about all of the other major programs (there was one "well, this is close enough, I guess" program that I might have settled for, but after trying DietOrganizer I'm happy that I don't have to settle for something that is only close to what I wanted). I am, in short, in sick love with this program. It gives me all of the information (& then some) that I'm looking for, is extremely easy to use (it has all of the bells & whistles, but it's put together in such a way that the input & reading of data is quick & simple as all h*ll), & although the food list is very comprehensive, it's also a breeze to add foods & recipes to, as well as meals that you may repeat a lot. (note: although the trial version limits you to adding a maximum of 10 items to the food list, the program is still very workable & the ability to use it & make up your mind about it isn't really impeded by that limitation. There were demo versions of other programs that were so limited that they turned me off from buying the full versions even with excellent reviews posted, especially once I tried DietOrganizer out - there was just no need to take a risk on unknowns.) Although I'm using this with a "clean food" diet, it seems that DietOrganizer would be excellent for any type of diet, including South Beach, Atkins, the Zone & other diets dependent on ratios or counts of carbs, proteins & fats, as these numbers are easily accessed, monitored & tweaked. As for the non-food features, I haven't gotten masochistic enough to take my measurements & input them yet, but I'm happy to have a program where I can track reductions & I do plan to start using the measurements function. Tomorrow. Really. In addition to using the exercise monitoring feature itself, I'm digging the basic journal feature for keeping track of, among other things, my workout progress. (eg. "Did Firm Tough Tape. Began dying after 20 minutes, but managed to drag battered corpse through rest of workout." It's nice to have a built-in way to monitor my dying point & see if I improve!)(unless I don't improve in which case I will, in a fit of petulance & irrationality, denounce the journal completely) So will I lose weight? I think so, as gadgetry is always a nice motivator, & this one has all of the tools I've been looking for to measure & track the info I want to keep track of. If you're looking for a fun (wait - is it sad that I find this to be fun?), easy-but-satisfyingly-bells-&-whistles-filled way to plan & monitor your diet & progress, I *highly* recommend trying this one out! |

User comment from PalmGear site: Excellent! I tried all of the other available programs, and none of them comes close in terms of logic, ease of use, or completeness... My only wish is that the database of foods were more extensive. At 5000 it is at the low end in the marketplace. I assume this will be addressed by an update. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! |

User comment from Handango site: Simply the Best! "After trying most of the programs offered for my Palm model, I selected this diet program. It is the best offered with the features I wanted. Graphs a great tool to show you were you're at. The catalog system is fast and easy. Do double check your food labels as some things do have a gap (different brands, additions, subtractions, etc). The only thing left wanting with this program is that it doesn't have a PC version to sync with. The company does have a PC version, but it is a standalone. Perhaps if we all asked nicely as it would be a great added tool to be able to print off reports and graphs. I use a pedometer to track my miles and calories and it is a snap to transfer that data into the program. They do have various exercise fields to select from, I just prefer my own entry. This is a powerful and easy program. You'll be off the ground and running in no time." |

User comment from Handango site: Just a HotSync Away from Perfect "I've been using another app for almost a year and while it's a good tool, it lacks severely in it's search capabilities. It is slow as a dog. Further, I do not think it's calorie tracking a weight loss adjustments are correct or accurate. So I've searched for other alternatives to only go back to Keyoe's offering. This week I found this food/exercise tracker. And when it's search quickly found my food in a flash, I smiled. The smile grew larger when I saw the power of it's graphs, easy input, Menu items (easily add an entire meal with one tap), Favorites and excellent interface to quickly see what you've ate for the day with a bar graph on the bottom to let you know if you've ate within your calories (green with percentage) or not (red with percentage.) The major con for this app is there is no HotSync between the Mobile edition and the PC version. Tech Support tells me it's coming within the year. Another minor thing is your food additions go to one single category. That could get real messy if you add the tens of foods I have (nearly 100). But the quick search feature will help with that. :)" |
BTW, fantastic software. I really like it. I've been using CalorieKing for about 1 year now. I very much like how you have your program setup!! |
| Thank you ! I have become addicted to the diet organizer....obviously a great product from great people! |
| Thank you. And by the way, great job on the software. Best I've seen yet and by huge margins the fastest on the Palm for searching. If you're looking for ideas, how about adding the # of cups of water drunk per day. I never drink enough. |
